Passing Down a Toy Box

I have been searching for Gracie a toy box for the past two months. But grandma had a better idea to dig my old toy box out of the attic and give it to Gracie. So have minor repairs and adding Gracie's initials it was ready. This toy box was made 27 years ago by papaw out of old barn lumber and now Gracie gets to use it :)

To recap the last two weeks...

Let me just start by saying Ashley Wright has NOT had the best luck in the past two weeks. I have dropped my cell phone in tea, warmed a bottle in a men's restroom, locked my 5 month old in the car, spilled KFC gravy all down my refrigerator, my class at school has been wild this 5 day week back, and I think I broke the emergency brake to the Ford Explorer I was test driving. But looking on the "glass 1/2 full side" Gracie gets her harness off in 11 days! Above are a few pictures from the past two weeks that always cheer me up when I am feeling blue :)

Gracie's Trip To Vanderbilt Children's Hospital

I thought I would write a note explaining what is going on with Gracie and WHY she was sent to Vanderbilt today. At her 4 month check up Dr. Kelly noticed a clicking in her right hip. After an ultrasound it was determined that she had Right Hip Dysplasia (hip was popping in and out of socket). So today we went down to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital and really loved the doctors who are treating Gracie. At this time they have placed her in a harness that will ultimately help her leg heal correctly. We have to go back once a week for 6-8 weeks so they can do an ultrasound to see how her leg is be corrected and to see the doctor for any adjustments. After that time period if that doesn't correct the problem then they will put her in a leg cast and then if that doesn't help she will have to have surgery. As of now she seems to be handling it well but it is bothering her a bit. She doesn't like the restriction. Daddy is doing good...Mommy on the other hand is not taking it too well to see her baby in that type of situation. BUT I keep telling myself it could be worse and thank GOD that they caught it early. I am just going to have to figure out the best way to dress her (or even if I can)...I am posting a picture of what she looks like in the harness so everyone can be aware of what it looks like if they see us in person. As we were leaving the hospital we got a lot of stares which made me a little upset....I am very thankful for all the thoughts and prayers for Gracie and please keep praying that this harness will fix her problem. Love you all!

A Little of This...A Little of That...

Over the past few weeks Gracie has really developed a wonderful personality and interests in various things. She loves interaction with people, taking bathes with mommy in the big tub, the snow, she loves watching bubbles and Baby Einstein, she enjoys her new jumperoo that daddy, bowling, and just like her daddy and Grandma K she loves sweet potatoes. Here are a few pictures of her favorite things to do at 4 months old :) Oh, how she adores the bubbles...

YUM!

The shirt says it all...

She has to have that thumb in her mouth :)
